Canacona: A social awareness billboard put up by Kadamba Transport Corporation (KTC) at the Chaudi bus stand came crashing down during heavy rains and strong winds, damaging two parked scooters.
The hoarding, which carried a message urging the public to vaccinate dogs to eliminate rabies, was mounted on the compound wall of the KTC bus stand in Chaudi. On Sunday, amidst inclement weather, the billboard snapped and collapsed onto scooters parked just outside the premises.
Two vehicles bore the brunt of the fall, sustaining partial damage. The damaged scooters had to be pulled out with considerable difficulty due to the weight of the fallen structure and ongoing rain.
The incident raised concerns about the safety and structural stability of such installations, especially during the monsoon season. While no injuries were reported, local residents have called for better maintenance of public signage to avoid such mishaps in the future.
