The Kadamba Transport Corporation Ltd. celebrated 40th year of its inception.
The Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant along with Transport Minister, Shri Mauvin Godinho performed puja of first KTC buses having registration no.GDX and GA 03 X-0606 on the ocassion at a function organised to mark the celebration at KTC bus stand at Patto Panaji today.
With the formation of KTCL, the Government ventured into the transport sector . This endeavour of the Government revolutionised transport system in the State. The Government with this initiative helped the common man to ease his movement. The KTCL endeavoured to provide transport to common men at grassroot level. The KTCL celebrating its 40th successful years of its establishment is no doubt a milestone in life of of any establishment.. The KTCL hereafter will adhere to its objective and continue to render services to common men in the State.
The Chief Minister Dr.Pramod Sawant said that Government undertakes projects taking the larger interest of the people and stressed on having visionary leadership. The Chief Minister complimented the Staff and Chairman for their outstanding work and for successful completion of forty years of its existence. With change of time the Government also intends to make changes in transport by adding electric buses in its fleet. The intention behind this is to protect the environment. Therefore the Government aims to procure around 250 electric buses in batches and will start plying on the road by December. KTCL has played important part in connecting rural areas with urban, he remarked.
The Transport Minister Shri Mauvin Godinho in his address appreciated the staff who rendered yeomen services during the deadly COVID Virus pandemic. They served the people thwarting risk to their lives and going to distant places in rendering services. The KTCL is a service oriented Corporation and not profit oriented . The Corporation has been rendering services to the people since forty years which he said is a great achievement. Therefore they are worthy of appreciation. As time changes, we have to change. We have to think to minimise the loss for KTC. We have to protect our environment. So the Government has decided to procure pollution free buses. The central Government has sanctioned 100 buses for Goa.These Electric buses will ply on road by the end of this year.
The Chairman KTCL Shri Carlos Almeida while speaking thanked the KTC Team for extending cooperation for KTCL. He also appreciated the staff who had worked without bothering about the risk to their lives.
COVID warriors of KTCL were felicitated at the hands of the dignitaries on the occasion.
