PANAJI: Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant on Wednesday called Kadamba Transport Corporation Ltd (KTCL) the lifeline of Goa, noting that 550 scheduled buses operate across the state and beyond.
Highlighting KTCL’s focus on service over profit, he said the corporation provides concessions for students, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities. Commuters were urged to adopt digital monthly passes for greater convenience.
Dr. Sawant announced that the foundation stone for the modernisation of the Vasco KTCL bus stand will be laid on October 4, with plans to upgrade all bus stands in the state in a phased manner.
Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho said KTCL will become fully digital by January 2026, introducing electronic tracking machines, geo-mapped routes, and an app-based booking system. E-payment has already been implemented across the service.
KTCL Chairman Ulhas Tuenkar added that 280 buses will be scrapped by 2027, while over 100 new electric buses will be added. Major city bus stands will be upgraded under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, and a new KTCL headquarters is planned in Porvorim under GSIDC.
