PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has announced that the under-construction Kunbi Village project at Selaulim will be completed within three months at an estimated cost of ₹10 crore.
Speaking at an event in Panaji on Wednesday marking Kunbi Community Day, Sawant said the dedicated cultural village aims to celebrate and preserve the unique traditions of the Kunbi community, one of Goa’s oldest tribal groups.
The CM said the new facility will serve as a cultural hub where Goa’s younger generations and tourists alike can learn about Kunbi heritage, customs, attire and crafts.
He emphasised that this would be the first such project in the State to showcase the rich history and legacy of Goa’s tribal communities.
Sawant also underscored his government’s commitment to the welfare of Scheduled Tribes in Goa, highlighting that ₹5 crore had already been disbursed under the Tribal Welfare Department’s flagship Mission Antyodaya scheme.
He further urged members of the Kunbi community to make use of government welfare schemes and called on the Tribal Welfare Department to improve awareness so that more eligible beneficiaries can benefit.
The CM also directed officials to ensure that the Kunbi Village project is completed on time, promising it will stand as a lasting tribute to the community’s cultural pride.
