VASCO: In a tragic incident, a labourer Akib Raza, hailing from Uttar Pradesh, died after falling from the the eight-floor of the building Essen Horizon Phase 2 located in Jairam Nagar at Dabolim on Thursday evening.
Sources said that the labourer was engaged by a flat owner and fell from the 8th floor while carrying out the maintenance work.
The people from the building were shocked after the incident and immediately called the Police who rushed to the site to carry out the primary investigation regarding the circumference surrounding the incident
Speaking to media , Building society Chairman Ashish Ranjan said that he had got a call at around 4.30 pm regarding the incident
“I was in the office and i got a mesage at around 4.30 pm regarding the incident in our building whereby a labourer fell from the 8th floor and had died on the spot. I immediately told the committee to inform the police and take the labourer to the hospital but he had already expired . After I reached here, i realised that a flat owner had engaged the labourer for carrying out some personal works. As per record on the gate , the persons entry was registered in the book as Flat no 806” said Ranjan.
This unfortunate and the tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the importance of safety measures in construction and maintenance work while demanding the authorities to ensure strict adherence to safety protocols to prevent such incidents in the future.
