Margao: A labourer from Odisha was found dead on the railway tracks at Margao Railway Station on Thursday morning after sustaining severe injuries.
According to Railway police, the deceased had come to Goa seeking work. However, the person who had invited him failed to respond to his calls after he arrived in the state.
In an attempt to catch the Amaravati Express, the labourer reportedly tried to board the moving train in haste. His leg got caught in a gap on the tracks, and the train ran over it, causing severe injuries. Due to the extent of the injuries and significant blood loss, he died before medical help could reach him.
Railway authorities and police arrived at the scene and have launched an investigation into the incident.
Officials have urged passengers to exercise caution while boarding trains and avoid risky attempts to catch moving trains.
