Bicholim: A 23-year-old labourer was arrested by Bicholim Police Station for allegedly possessing 56 grams of suspected ganja at Vathadev, Sarvan.
According to police, PSI Akash Parwar lodged a state complaint after conducting a narcotic raid based on specific information. The raid was carried out on March 3 between 8.36 pm and 9.22 pm at the cricket ground opposite AJ Supermarket at Vathadev, Sarvan, Bicholim.
The accused, identified as Anees Ansari (23), a resident of Vathadev, was allegedly caught red-handed while in illegal possession of 56 grams of green leafy substance suspected to be ganja, valued at approximately Rs 5,600. Police said the accused had allegedly come to deliver the narcotic substance to prospective customers.
He was formally arrested at 2.33 am on March 4 and remains in police custody.
Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Krishna Gawas of Bicholim Police Station.
