PANJIM/MARGAO: Canacona police books unknown labourers working for the owner of a Shore Shack, at Agonda for theft of sand (minor mineral) from the beach and putting fire on the beach partly destroying and damaging the Turtle Nesting Site.
According to Canacona police, South Goa Marine Range, Galgibag, Canacona, Range Forest Officer (RFO) Rajesh Naik, complained that on 11/01/2025 at Agonda beach, Canacona, accused persons who are laborers working for the owner of the Shore Shack, Agonda, committed theft of sand from Agonda Beach (Sand is classified as a minor mineral). The stolen sand from the Agonda beach is used for the purpose of fitting tiles to the shore – shack. The labourers are also accused that they have put fire to the coconut leaves on Agonda beach, thereby destroying and damaging the Turtle Nesting site.
Accordingly anacona Police registered an offense under u/s, 303 (2), 326(f) of BNS 2023, and further Canacona police is investigating the case with PSI Ramdas Doifode of Canacona PS.
