THIVIM: Colvale Police Station has registered an unnatural death (UD) case on February 22, 2026 at 2.20 am following a medical memo received from the casualty ward of North Goa District Hospital regarding a woman who was brought dead.
The deceased has been identified as Sarika Naik, wife of Sagar Naik, a resident of Vancio Waddo, Guirim, Bardez. She was serving as a Lady Assistant Sub-Inspector (LASI) attached to the Detention Centre in Mapusa.
Preliminary enquiry revealed that she had travelled to Mumbai on deportation duty to escort a Nigerian national, along with other staff members. After completing the deportation formalities on February 21, the team returned to Goa by train and alighted at Thivim Railway Station.
Police said that upon reaching the Thivim Railway Station junction bus stop, she complained of giddiness and uneasiness. The staff accompanying her immediately shifted her to North Goa District Hospital, Mapusa, where the doctor on duty declared her brought dead.
Police visited the casualty ward and conducted an inquest panchanama over the body. The body has been preserved at Goa Medical College for post-mortem examination. The post-mortem report is awaited.
