ASSAGAO: Two people were detained by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) Land snatching on Monday for allegedly snatching land in Assagao.
The police claim that the accused, Divyakumar Khandar, 44, of Mangeshi, and Yogesh Magar, 41, of Mardol, produced fake, fraudulent documents of properties with survey numbers 237/7 and 206/13 of Assagao village and were successful in transferring the land’s ownership rights in their names.
According to the police, they also sold the properties to legitimate buyers.
They were taken into custody in relation to a case filed under Sections 465, 466, 467, 419, and 420 read with 34 of the Indian Penal Code at the Mapusa Police Station. Felix Noronha of Boutta Vaddo, Anjuna, filed the case.
Following their appearance before Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Mapusa, the two accused were placed under five days police custody.
The case is being investigated by PSI Pritesh Madgaonkar under the supervision of Superintendent of Police (Crime/SIT, Land Grabbing) Rahul Gupta and DySP SIT (Land Grabbing) Shivram Vaigankar.
