ANJUNA: In a follow-up to an ongoing narcotics investigation, police have registered separate cases against a house owner and a scooter owner for violations detected during the probe.
During interrogation, it was revealed that the accused in the drug case had been residing in a rented room owned by Kamlakant Banavlikar of Siolim, Bardez. Police found that the landlord had failed to transmit the mandatory ‘C’ Form to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), Panaji, as required by law. Accordingly, PSI Ramesh Harijan filed a complaint, and Crime No. 141/2025 has been registered at Anjuna Police Station under Section 23(b) of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025, by PSI Saish Kinlekar.
Further investigation also revealed that the accused had hired a Fascino scooter (GA-03-BD-1164) on a monthly rent of ₹5,000 from Nilima Mandrekar of Assagao, Bardez. Police issued a notice under Section 35(3) of the BNSS to Mandrekar and submitted a report before the Hon’ble Court seeking action under Section 192-A of the Motor Vehicles Act. A report was also forwarded to the Assistant Director of Transport, Mapusa, recommending cancellation of the scooter’s registration certificate.
The investigation is being carried out under the supervision of PI Suraj Gawas of Anjuna Police Station, with overall supervision by SDPO Mapusa Wilson D’Souza and SP North Rahul Gupta, IPS.
Police have reiterated that strict action will continue against drug traffickers and those aiding them.
