MENKUREM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has reaffirmed that the Latambarcem Industrial Estate will be reserved exclusively for food processing units, ruling out the establishment of any other type of industry at the site.
Speaking on the issue, Sawant said, “We have been receiving several proposals for setting up industries other than food processing, but I myself have rejected such proposals. No permission will be granted for any non-food industry at Latambarcem.”
The move is part of the government’s broader vision to promote agro-based and food-related industries in Goa, while also ensuring that the estate remains aligned with its original purpose. Officials said the decision is expected to create opportunities for local farmers and entrepreneurs, streamline raw material sourcing, and boost employment in the food sector.
The Latambarcem estate, located in North Goa, has been a focal point of industrial planning in recent years. With this clear policy direction, the government aims to attract investments that add value to the state’s agricultural output and promote sustainable industrial growth.
