CANACONA: ManoShobha Kalaghar has organised a ‘Bhasabhas’ programme on the theme “Revising Textbooks” on the occasion of Republic Day, featuring two of India’s leading political scientists who will address and engage with the audience on the subject.
Eminent political scientist Prof Peter Ronald deSouza will speak on revising textbooks against the backdrop of the ongoing nationwide debate surrounding NCERT textbooks, particularly in History, Political Science and Languages. His address will be followed by a deliberation with Prof Gopal Guru, another prominent political scientist and former professor at Jawaharlal Nehru University.
Both speakers will later participate in an open interaction session with the audience.

Prof deSouza has previously served as Director of the Indian Institute of Advanced Study (IIAS), Shimla, and as Co-Director at the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies (CSDS), New Delhi. He began his academic career as Head of the Department of Political Science at Goa University.
Prof Gopal Guru is presently a visiting professor at Columbia University, the University of Oxford and the University of Pennsylvania. He has earlier served at Jawaharlal Nehru University, the University of Delhi and the University of Pune, and was also the editor of the Economic & Political Weekly.
The programme is being organised by ManoShobha Kalaghar under the stewardship of its secretary, Sudesh Prabhudesai.
