PANAJI: BJP Panaji MLA Atanasio Monserrate today said that Sudin Dhavalikar should merge his MGP into the BJP if he wants to strengthen the state.
“I do not think there is a reason to bring MGP on board and accept their support; we are strong; If Sudin Dhavalikar wants to merge his party into MGP, that is fine; we will accept him; let him merge and let him be one of us,” said Monserrate.
He further said that it is a new inning for BJP, and hopefully, everything will go well.
“BJP has got full majority and will complete the full tenure with ease, no question for ups and down and next term also BJP will come to a majority again,” he said.
He said that he does not know whether he will be getting a ministry.
Five BJP MLA’s have opposed taking support of MGP in the formation of the new government. Besides Ravi Naik, even other BJP MLAs, including Govind Gaude, Babush Monserrate, Mauvin Godinho, and Subhash Shirodkar, are against taking the support of MGP to the BJP govt.
“We already have 20 seats plus 3 Independent MLAs supporting us. We don’t need the help of MGP at all”, they had said.
It can be recalled that Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant had sacked MGP ministers from his cabinet.
Dhavalikar has repeatedly said earlier that the party will not support the BJP under Sawant’s leadership.
