New Delhi: As the cricket world gears up for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, Indian captain Rohit Sharma has sent a heartfelt message to the fans, expressing his gratitude for their unwavering support and urging them to join the team in their quest for another ICC title. With India set to kick off their campaign against Bangladesh on Thursday, February 20, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Rohit’s words have resonated deeply with the cricket enthusiasts back home.
In a video shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on its official social media handles, Rohit Sharma reflected on the team’s recent triumph in the T20 World Cup 2024 and how the fans’ reception made them feel like champions. “From Barbados to India, we were made to feel like champions, and we felt like champions. Along with us, I am sure you felt like champions too. Months later, we begin our quest to become champions once again,” he said.
Rohit emphasized that the team is well-prepared for the Champions Trophy 2025, having completed their training and tournament mandates. He called upon the fans to support the team as they aim to lift the title once more. “We have trained, tournament mandates done, now it is time to go all out on the field. For the team, for you fans, and for the nation that will be chanting our names, as always. So, let’s do this again, you & us—let’s be champions together,” he urged.
India, the most successful team in Champions Trophy history, will face a challenging group stage. After the match against Bangladesh, they will take on arch-rivals Pakistan on February 23 at the same venue, followed by a clash against New Zealand on March 2. The team’s recent 3-0 ODI series win over England has boosted their confidence, but they will be without key player Jasprit Bumrah due to an injury.
Rohit’s message comes at a time when the team is focusing on every detail to ensure success in the tournament. The Dubai International Cricket Stadium, known for its challenging pitch conditions, will host all of India’s Group A matches. The pitch is expected to offer assistance to pacers early on and spinners in the middle overs, making India’s strategy of including five spinners and four fast-bowling options crucial.
With the weather forecast indicating mostly sunny conditions with a slight chance of rain, the stage is set for an exciting opener. Rohit’s appeal to the fans has gone viral, and as the team prepares to take on Bangladesh, the anticipation and excitement among Indian cricket enthusiasts are palpable.
