PANAJI: Aam Aadmi Party Goa convener Rahul Mhambre who turned 50 on January 3, had a series of events begining with seeking blessings at Bodgeshwar temple at Mapusa and his family and culminating with his family visit to Gaushala at Sinquerim.
At Bodgeshwar temple, he prayed for strength to free the city of Mapusa from the grip of corruption and the politics of inefficiency and incompetence.
Mhambre later paid tributes to Bhausaheb Bandodkar, the architect of Goa’s education system, a strong believer in inclusive politics and greatly influenced Mhambre’s political journey.
He also visited his alumni school, St Britto High School, and reminisced about his X grade class and interacted with teachers. On request of the school management, a water filter was gifted to the school.
As an act of social service, Mhambre organised a blood donation camp in association with GMC Blood Bank, marking his birthday. The people of Mapusa are always eager to contribute to a good cause, and the blood donation appeal was well received by the young people. At the camp, free spectacles were also distributed to people of Mapusa who had attended the eye check-up camp held on 19th Dec.
Mhambre felicitated Safai Mitras of Mapusa. He said, “The Safai Mitras of Mapusa has been working tirelessly to keep our neighbourhoods clean, especially during the Covid period. I was truly honoured to felicitate Safai Mitras of Mapusa on my birthday”.
He had a heartwarming and pleasant evening at Sneh Mandir. He expressed his gratitude for the blessings of his extended family, which aided him in his effort to serve the community.
He then visited the school at St. Cruz the visually impaired children and Gaushala at Mayem. He said, “The children are visually impaired, but their hearts are full of warmth and compassion, and their attitude is one of never giving up. I pray that we all have this attitude.
At the Gaushala, the administrator greeted him and was taken around the Gaushala. Mhanbre complimented the Administrator for running the rescue centre for cattle run by dedicated, selfless volunteers to uphold and preserve the rich Vedic traditions.
He was touched that the day started with blessings of his ‘Matta’ and culminated with visit to ” Goumata”.
