PANAJI: Goa Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte compared YouTuber BeerBiceps, also known as Ranveer Allahbadia, to a rot undermining the nation’s social fabric amid widespread criticism and police action against him.
Numerous police complaints and concerns from women’s and human rights panels have been sent to Allahbadia and the creators of the show India’s Got Latent, a forum where offensive statements sparked anger.
In the name of creative freedom, Khaunte said under his X handle, “The ‘likes’ of Ranveer Allahbadia are the Rot that’s eating into our Social Fabric & degrading the Moral Values of an Entire Generation when all they create is Perverted Trash.”
YouTube has finally taken down Allahbadia’s extremely inappropriate question on the broadcast as well as the comments that were backed up by other panelists.
After receiving a report on Monday, the Mumbai Police had already paid a visit to Allahbadia’s home. In addition, a formal complaint has been filed against him by the Assam Police.
Devendra Fadnavis, the chief minister of Maharashtra, has promised that he will face consequences. A parliamentary committee is thinking of calling Allahbadia to speak on the issue in the interim.
But the moment the episode went live on YouTube, the mood shifted drastically. Outrage, multiple complaints, apology, and an FIR.
But the damage didn’t stop there. Allahbadia, who had maintained a clean image and hosted guests from all walks of life on his podcast, saw his credibility unravel overnight.
Fans who once admired him for his insightful conversations began distancing themselves, and soon, multiple media reports claimed that he had lost over two million YouTube subscribers following the crass “joke”. But is that number real? Did he actually lose 2 million subscribers, or is there more to the story?
