CANACONA: The Lions Club of Canacona (LCC), in association with the Village Panchayat Poinguinim and Shashwat Sports and Cultural Club, organised its second free eye check-up camp at the Disaster Management Shelter, Mahalwada-Poinguinim, on Saturday, benefitting over 250 villagers.
The camp, held in collaboration with Matoshri Seva Trust, Mumbai, was inaugurated by Poinguinim Sarpanch Savita Tawadkar, who also felicitated doctors present. Deputy Sarpanch Sunil Paingankar, Panch members Satish Poinginkar and Pravir Bhandari, along with members of Shashwat Sports and Cultural Club, joined in lighting the traditional lamp to mark the inauguration.
Over 250 villagers were screened during the camp, and an equal number were provided with free spectacles worth more than ₹75,000. The camp ran from 9 am to 4 pm.
LCC President Pankaj NaikGaunkar, Secretary Ulhas Phaldessai, Treasurer Dilkush Shet, Zone Chairperson Gourish Vernekar, and several Lion members including Arun Bhat, R.S. Nayak, Sanjay Desai, and Gopichand Vernekar were present to oversee the programme.
