Mapusa: In a landmark moment for one of Goa’s most esteemed service organizations, the Lions Club of Mapuca celebrates its 61st anniversary with a historic leadership handover. Lion Shreya Naik has been named the new President, taking over from her father, MJF Lion Shreedhar Naik, who led the club through its monumental Diamond Jubilee year with distinction.
This rare father-daughter succession marks a significant milestone for the club and reinforces its legacy of community-driven leadership. Lion Shreya, a dynamic and committed member of the Lions movement, brings a fresh perspective while deeply rooted in the values of Lions Clubs International. Her presidency comes on the heels of her father’s impactful term, which saw the club spearhead numerous initiatives in health, education, and civic engagement.
“I am humbled and honored to lead the Lions Club of Mapuca in its 61st year,” said Lion Shreya Naik. “My father’s dedication and the club’s strong legacy inspire me to take our service to greater heights. Together with our members, I look forward to advancing our mission of compassion and impactful service in Mapuca and beyond.”
Under her leadership, the club aims to continue its hallmark projects—vision care camps, healthcare outreach programs, youth development, and environmental sustainability—while also embracing innovative strategies to meet emerging community needs. Lion Shreya’s agenda includes expanding membership, fostering inclusive leadership, and building robust community partnerships to amplify the club’s reach and effectiveness.
The official installation ceremony is scheduled for June 25, 2025, at the revered Dev Bodgeshwar Sansthan Hall in Mapusa. District Governor Elect PMJF Lion JaiAmol Naik will grace the event as Chief Guest, and MJF Lion Sameer Surlakar will install the new Board of Directors for the 2025–26 term. The event will witness the presence of prominent Lions Club members, local dignitaries, and well-wishers, celebrating not only a change in leadership but also the club’s unwavering dedication to service for over six decades.
Founded in 1964, the Lions Club of Mapuca has been a cornerstone of civic engagement and humanitarian service in the region. It is part of Lions Clubs International—the world’s largest service organization with over 1.4 million members in more than 46,000 clubs across 200 countries. Since 1917, Lions have been at the forefront of global efforts in areas such as vision care, disaster relief, youth empowerment, and community development.
With a strong foundation and new leadership in place, the Lions Club of Mapuca is set to continue its legacy of service, compassion, and community impact for years to come.
