PANAJI: The state government, in a circular, has ordered the opening of all liquor shops on June 26 at 11 am as a mark of support on the occasion of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Trafficking.
“As received from Dr Virendra Kumar, Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, New Delhi on the subject cited above and to inform you that the Government has decided to open liquor shops in the State at 11.00 am on 26/06/2022, as a mark of support on the occasion of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Trafficking,” the order states.
Director-General of Police Jaspal Singh, IPS, who graced the function, highlighted the significance of celebrating the international day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking and said that abuse and the illicit trafficking of drugs is an evil in our society.
“We can fight against the menace of drugs and reduce the drug if the whole society, particularly youths, come forward. There is a need to raise awareness about the impact and negative consequences that drugs have on society,” he added.
