CALANGUTE: Calangute MLA Michael Lobo has urged Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) leader Manoj Parab to take forward his allegations of over 300 illegal projects in the Calangute and Siolim constituencies to their logical conclusion. Lobo said he, along with Siolim MLA Delilah Lobo, is ready to provide full cooperation in pursuing the matter.
Lobo also claimed that Parab appears particularly interested in contesting from Calangute or Siolim in the 2027 Goa Assembly elections, suggesting that the RGP chief should test his political strength at the ballot box rather than “only criticising from outside.”
Addressing the ongoing dispute, Lobo clarified that a retaining wall constructed on his private property in Anjuna is part of an anti–sea erosion project, approved by the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) authority and executed by the Water Resources Department (WRD). He added that the entire cost was borne personally and dismissed the RGP’s allegations as “politically motivated and unrelated to environmental damage.”
The RGP responded by accusing Michael and Delilah Lobo of attempting to take over the Siolim constituency. “We have not taken any money from people coming from Delhi for big projects in Siolim. If MLA Michael Lobo has proof that RGP is accepting money from these Delhi investors, he should come forward with evidence. He is making false allegations against us,” the party stated.
RGP further asserted that it has not threatened any Delhi builders for money and warned that it will “not remain silent” and will “expose Michael Lobo and Delilah Lobo” for their alleged activities in the constituencies.
The exchange highlights growing tensions ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections, with both sides intensifying their political rhetoric in Calangute and Siolim.
