PANAJI: “My wife is an independent woman and a seasoned politician, and I cannot influence her decisions or pressurise her not to contest elections,” said Minister for Waste Management Michael Lobo.
Lobo, emerging out of the meeting with BJP Goa election in-charge Devendra Fadnavis, said his meeting was regarding the political situation.
“He wanted to know what was happening around and the surveys party has conducted,” the minister says.
When asked whether there was any discussion on his wife’s candidature, he replied, “no”.
“There was no discussion about Delilah; neither he asked me, nor I took up the topic. There is no need of discussing it. My wife has not claimed a party ticket. She may contest on any party ticket or as an independent,” he said.
He said that when we talk of women empowerment, we have to give them the liberty to make their own decisions.
“She has started her work, and I am not interfering in that. It’s her decision,” he replied.
He, however, dodged questions on whether he would contest elections on BJP ticket.
As per rumours mills, Lobo may join Congress, which has been totally denied by him.
