VAGATOR: Bravery and swift action saved four fishermen from drowning after their boat overturned in the early hours of Wednesday off the Vagator-Anjuna coast.
The fishing boat, manned by Raj Chodankar (25) from Siolim and his three workers — Akash (23), Anjuli Ekka (25), and Sanjay Sekka (24), all from Chhattisgarh — capsized in rough waves. Struggling in the water, Raj managed to alert his friends for help.
Responding immediately, locals from Guddem, Siolim — Brijesh Naik, Utkarsha Khorjuvekar, Vaibhav Khorjuvekar, and Sarvesh Chodankar — rushed to the spot. With the support of lifeguards, police, and the Mapusa fire services, they entered the sea and pulled all four men to safety.
