SANGUEM: The people of the State does not seem to have learnt their lessons from Kumbh Mela, which wreaked havoc with spike in COVID19 cases in the country.
Similarly, people of Sanguem and surrounding areas are thronging to the remote village of Curdi in Sanguem taluka, which is also called as submerged village.
This village is under water for around six months every year starting from monsoons.
In past one month after the State government has announced the state-wide curfew, the locals as well as outsiders throng the village of Curdi just for time pass.
The locals say that hundreds of people visit the submerged temple, which is become a huge threat to the native as there could be huge spike in COVID19 pandemic.
The locals have complained to the police and other authorities to authorities to act quickly beforethe situation goes out of control.
People have also sent tweets to the SP South and DGP Goa for immediate action.
The SP South has replied saying the information has been sent to the concerned officer for immediate action.
When Goemkarponn contacted Sanguem Deputy Collector Sagar Gawade he said he does not have any intimation or order from high authority about the situation at Curdi village.
Every year, at the peak of summer during April-May, parts of the submerged village rise above the water level. The only structure that still remains intact in Curdi village even after the whole village was submerged is the Someshwar temple this temple is called to ‘jaagrut devasthan’ dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple stone Nandi along with other idols from the temple were moved to Valkini near salaulim dam.
