CURCHOREM: Even as the widening of the road from Karali to Tilamol in the municipal area of Quepem constituency is in full swing, the villagers of Kusman area are protesting against the widening of the road from Kusman to Quepem Police station.
Locals of Kusman held a meeting to discuss the issue wherein they resolved to oppose the road and demanded to scrap of road widening work.
The locals have also urged the people to find an alternative bypass road.
The road from Karali to Tilamol is being widened at the cost of nearly around Rs 15 crore. The work has begun for the last two months.
The locals fear the widening of the road will affect their houses, compounds.
At a special meeting called on Sunday, around a hundred locals came together to protest against the road widening in Kusman to Quepem police station.
The villagers said that the decision of widening was taken without proper deliberation and without consideration of the locals as 90 per cent of the population will be affected by the road’s widening processes.
