PONDA: The Durbhat locals have demanded various development work at Durbhat Junction and Ferry Point.
Eknath Fadte, a local at Durbhat, said the iron grip slabs on the gutter at Durbhat main road junction pose a risk to commuters. The people travelling at Junction slip on iron grill slabs installed on the gutter. So far, during these past few years, several people have received fractures.
He also pointed out that the side of the Durbhat Ferry ramp turned slippery, and several passengers travelling through the ferry slipped on the ramp and got injured. He said mud accumulates on side of the ramp, and people walking through it to board or alight from the Ferry Boat slip and fracture their bones.
He also said the mangroves growing up in front of the Ferry ramp blocks the view of the Parked Ferry Boat, due to which people think that there is no ferry service and move to pick up Adpoi Ferry.
Similarly, the trees grown up alongside Durbhat Junction to Ferry Point are grown up and touch overhead power lines, causing a breakdown in power supply.
Meanwhile, the Local Panchmember Babu Naik said he is aware of the accidents caused at Durbhat Junction and noted that the concrete slabs would be installed. The order has already been placed, and soon slabs will be installed on the gutter passing through the middle of road.
