Canacona: The Loliem-Polem Communidade has postponed its scheduled land survey, which was to take place on Sunday, July 20, due to the ongoing heavy rains lashing Canacona—the southernmost taluka of Goa.
Communidade President Vishwajeet Warik confirmed the development, stating, “The survey has been postponed due to adverse weather conditions. We will announce a new date for the identification and verification of any remaining houses or encroachments on communidade land after consulting with the Administrator of Communidade (South).”
The survey was aimed at identifying further encroachments following a recent High Court directive concerning illegal structures on communidade lands.
Warik further informed that, as part of compliance with the court’s order, the Loliem-Polem Communidade has already identified 79 illegal houses and encroachments in survey numbers 358/1, 355, 351, and 350, located in the Dapot and Madditalap areas. The compiled list has been formally submitted to the Administrator of Communidade, South Zone, for necessary action.
The postponed survey was expected to assist in confirming if any additional illegal constructions remain unaccounted for, and to ensure full compliance with the legal process underway.
A new date for the survey will be communicated once the weather stabilizes and administrative coordination is complete.
