Mumbai: In a significant step towards harnessing the power of technology for societal advancement, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates met with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to explore collaborative opportunities in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital platforms. This meeting marked a crucial milestone in Maharashtra’s journey towards technological innovation, with a focus on improving lives across the state through AI-driven solutions in healthcare, agriculture, and women’s livelihoods.
The meeting at the Sahyadri state guesthouse in Mumbai highlighted the potential for transformative partnerships that could revolutionize various sectors in Maharashtra. At the forefront of these discussions were digital platforms designed to enhance women’s livelihoods and AI-driven solutions tailored for healthcare and agriculture. The Gates Foundation’s commitment to partnering with the Maharashtra government to eradicate malaria from the state was also a key takeaway from the meeting.
Chief Minister Fadnavis emphasized the importance of government schemes like ‘Lakhpati Didi’ and ‘Ladki Bahin Yojana,’ which aim to empower women economically. These initiatives align with the broader vision of leveraging fast-changing technologies, including AI, to drive progress in multiple sectors. The collaboration also includes plans to establish a Skill University with Microsoft’s support, focusing on equipping youth with future-ready skills and training 10,000 women in AI to foster inclusivity in the tech revolution.
