Panaji: Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao brought up the issue of 11 liquor outlets at Manohar International Airport, Mopa, during Zero Hour, noting that 9 of them are operated by non-locals. After his call for action, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant assured the House that an inquiry would be conducted.
“The outlets of the locals are only 2 of the total 11. This is the most disturbing and worrying issue wherein the government itself follows the deliberate trend of providing full and unstinted support and cooperation to non-local and non-Goan businesses even in areas where locals have the willingness, ability and tested credentials,” Alemao said.
“The Chief Minister holds the portfolios of Excise, Civil Aviation and Airports. When all MLAs in the House voice concerns and demand preferential treatment for locals and Goans, these trends definitely cause anxiety and apprehensions of the practices adopted by the government,” he further said.
