PANAJI: Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao on Friday launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led government, alleging that the once peaceful Goa has been converted into a “crime hub”.
Citing the recent gang fight at Mungul, Fatorda involving weapons and the firing incident at Marcaim, Alemao said these were clear indicators of the collapse of law and order in the State.
“Criminals have no fear of the police. Our jails supply ganja, drugs and mobile phones, while police officers with criminal intentions rob people alongside actual robbers,” Alemao alleged.
He further said that police are seen conducting nakabandis only after crimes occur, while criminals roam freely at night attacking and robbing people.
Calling the situation “unacceptable and shameful”, Alemao accused the government of being incapacitated and completely failing to protect its citizens.
