PANAJI: Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao on Friday demanded a thorough investigation by Goa Police after Randox test results confirmed the presence of narcotics and sedatives, including ecstasy, MDMA, and amphetamines, in samples collected from a student of BITS Pilani Goa campus.
Alemao said the incident reflects a “complete failure” of the police to curb drug supply, even within educational institutions. He also questioned whether this was the fifth or sixth death of a student at the institute and demanded clarity from the authorities.
“The management of the institute should be held accountable if they failed to put preventive measures in place. We have repeatedly warned that drugs have infiltrated educational campuses, but the BJP government is more interested in narrating crime detection stories than tackling the menace,” Alemao charged.
He urged police to act swiftly to ensure students do not continue to fall victim to drug-related tragedies.
