MARGAO: Goa police arrested their female sub-inspector, Anoushka Parab, for aiding and abetting a suicide after a lawyer from South Goa committed himself, claiming she had harassed him.
In the hours following a police raid at his home on Thursday, advocate Jayant Prabhu took his own life at his home in Davorlim hamlet, close to Margao town, at the direction of LPSI Anoushka Parab.
His son Pritesh was being sought after by the team after he was charged with molestation. Pritesh was arrested by the Margao police.
The South Goa Lawyers Association demonstrated on Friday in front of Santosh Desai, the Deputy Superintendent of Police, and demanded that the LPSI be immediately charged. They emphasized that the lawyer had cited Parab as the reason for going to such considerable lengths in his suicide note.
Ashish Prabhu, the deceased’s son, has officially complained about the LPSI and other people who were present at the raid. The attorneys demonstrated on Friday night in front of the DySP.
DySP Desai reluctantly eventually informed the demonstrators that the LPSI will be the target of a legal complaint for aiding and abetting suicide. “We will look into the claims made by the deceased’s family members against the LPSI,” he declared.
