MARGAO: With Mamlatdars and other officials being roped in for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, the hearings in the Tenancy and Mundkarial cases has taken a backseat.
Revenue Minister Atanasio Monserrate himself has admitted how the lok sabha preparations have affected disposal of these crucial cases.
“I have been following up the matter of pending Mundkarial and Tenancy cases on priority basis.
Even on Saturdays, the mamlatdars offices are open and working and even in assembly, I have given reply that lot of cases have speeded up,” said Monserrate.
He further said that total of 2059 Mundkarial, 2485 tenancy, 541 tenancy appeal and 374 Mundkarial appeal cases are pending across the state.
He assured that government is serious about disposing of the cases with utmost priority to protect the rights of people.
Monserrate said he heard personal grievances of citizens and complaints against officials, saying the exercise has helped him and senior officials understand the functioning of government officials and staff.
“There’s need to give human touch to the public grievances. People should not be forced to run from pillar to post. They need to be guided properly which department will address their issues,” he said.
