New Delhi: In a landmark move, the Madhya Pradesh Waqf Board has issued its largest-ever recovery notice, demanding ₹27 crore from an individual accused of illegally occupying and profiting from Waqf property.
The notice has been served to Shahid Ali Khan, manager of Idara Yateem Khana, who allegedly misrepresented Waqf land as personal property and rented out around 200 commercial shops, generating an estimated income of ₹24.85 crore in violation of Waqf Board rules.
The Board stated that Khan’s actions were in direct breach of Waqf regulations and that he deprived poor Muslim orphans of the rightful benefits from these assets.
The recovered amount, the Waqf Board confirmed, will be redirected toward educational and welfare initiatives for underprivileged Muslim orphans—those who, according to officials, were the intended beneficiaries of the misused property.
The action marks a strong message from the Waqf Board regarding accountability and the protection of religious and charitable trust assets.
