CALANGUTE: In a joint operation with the Crime Branch of Nandurbar, Maharashtra, the Calangute Police on Wednesday arrested a man wanted in multiple criminal cases across Maharashtra.
The accused, identified as Rajya alias Nagesh Damanya Valvi, 27, a resident of Katri Akrani in Nandurbar district, was traced to a guest house in Baga, Calangute.
Valvi is accused in at least seven cases registered between 2022 and 2025, including charges of housebreaking, theft, motor vehicle violations, and offences under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Maharashtra Prohibition Act.
His criminal record includes Cr. No. 113/2022, 92/2022, 50/2022, 115/2022, 278/2024, 35/2025, and 54/2025 across various police stations in Nandurbar.
The arrest was led by PSI Harish Vaigankar of Calangute Police Station, with assistance from PSI Vishwajit Dhavlikar and a team of police constables including Vijay Naik, Bhagwan Palyekar, Siddhesh Naik, Gaurav Chodankar, Rohan Naik, Rajan Chandgadkar, and Nitesh Salgaonkar.
Valvi was arrested under Section 35 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) in accordance with Supreme Court guidelines.
The Nandurbar Crime Branch has been informed and a team is en route to Goa to take custody of the accused for further legal proceedings.
