PATRADEVI: A Maharashtrian was detained by the Goa Police’s Anti-Narcotic Cell (ANC) on suspicion of possessing synthetic drugs worth Rs 25.10 lakh on the black market. The defendant, Parvej Ali Khan, 30, of Kudal, Sindhudurg, Maharashtra, was apprehended close to the Patradevi checkpoint, which is only a few meters inside the Goa border. He was then taken into custody. According to ANC officials, they found a substantial amount of drugs in Khan’s possession, including 43 high-potency Ecstasy pills and 208 grammes of powder, which were purportedly intended for party circuit distribution. Khan is thought to be a major participant in a wider Mumbai-Goa network.
He was acting as the main supplier of Ecstasy, also referred to as “pills,” transporting big amounts from Mumbai into Goa, where smaller street vendors distributed them. The start of a long vacation weekend coincided with his arrival in Goa,” the ANC stated, adding that SP ANC Tikam Singh Verma and DySP Nerlon Albuquerque are keeping an eye on the investigation. For questioning, the accused is placed under remand in police custody.
