PANAJI: The Goa Pradesh Mahila Congress has strongly condemned the objectionable, indecent, and misogynistic remarks made by Madhya Pradesh Minister Vijay Shah against Army officer Colonel Safia Qureshi. The remarks are not only a direct assault on the dignity of women but also a disgraceful insult to the Indian Armed Forces and the courageous women who serve the nation with honour and pride.
Colonel Qureshi, a highly respected officer of the Indian Army, was targeted in a deeply inappropriate and disrespectful manner, exposing the regressive and anti-women mindset that has taken root under the BJP government. The Mahila Congress demands the immediate dismissal of Minister Vijay Shah by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, and calls for prompt legal action against him.
“We will not stay silent when women in uniform are insulted. This is not just about Colonel Safia Qureshi—this is about the dignity of every Indian woman. If the BJP government cannot uphold that, it has no right to stay in power,” said Dr. Pratiksha Khalap, President of Goa Pradesh Mahila Congress.
The Goa Pradesh Mahila Congress expresses its appreciation to the Madhya Pradesh High Court and the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India for their timely intervention and directives. Their action reinforces the belief that the judiciary continues to be a powerful guardian of justice and accountability in this country.
The Mahila Congress, along with its units across the nation, has already been leading statewide protests in Madhya Pradesh and is prepared to intensify the agitation across other states, including Goa, if decisive action is not taken against Vijay Shah.
