Saligao: The Maica Waddo–Canderlia Chapel road at Saligao was officially opened, significantly improving internal road connectivity within the Saligao constituency and providing multiple benefits to farmers, residents and devotees.
Saligao MLA Kedar Naik said the road has been developed keeping the needs of all sections of society in mind.
“This road will be extremely beneficial for our farmer friends, as it allows easy movement of tractors and agricultural vehicles and supports their daily farming activities,” Naik said.
He added that the road also serves as a convenient short-cut approach to Our Lady of Candelaria Chapel, Pilerne, making it easier for the Catholic community and devotees to access the chapel.
“It provides an alternative and time-saving route for people visiting the chapel, especially during religious events and feasts,” the MLA said.
Highlighting its people-friendly design, Naik said the road is also suitable for daily walks, jogging and cycling.
“It is a safe and comfortable space for children to cycle and for residents to engage in healthy outdoor activities,” he added.
Naik said the project aligns with the vision of Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant for a Swayampurna Goa, focusing on infrastructure development that directly improves quality of life.
“We remain committed to developing better roads, improving connectivity and ensuring a better quality of life for every family in the Saligao constituency,” he said.
The newly opened road is expected to ease local movement, support agriculture-related activities and enhance accessibility to important religious and residential areas in the constituency.
