MUMBAI: The main accused in the Gulistan Masjid murder case has been detained by authorities at Mumbai Airport upon his arrival from abroad, officials said.
A Goa Police team has left for Mumbai to take the accused into custody. Further details regarding the arrest and transit are awaited. Sources indicated that the accused is also wanted by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with another case.
The case pertains to the killing of 40-year-old Ali Khan, Vice-President of the Sunni Gulistan Masjid in Gogol, Margao, in January 2026. The incident had sent shockwaves across the region and triggered an intensive police investigation.
Three of the eight persons arrested in connection with the murder outside the Sunni Gulistan Masjid have been granted conditional anticipatory bail by a local court.
The incident occurred on January 31, 2026, and the case was registered at Fatorda Police Station following a violent altercation reportedly arising from an internal committee rivalry.
