MARGAO: The first cases of Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) confirmed in Bengaluru after a three-month-old girl and an eight-month-old boy tested positive for the virus. Madganvcho Awaaz appeals to all not to panic, but take precautions maintaining hygiene & seeking immediate medical advice incase of any symptoms, stated Youth Leader Prabhav Naik.
HMPV typically causes symptoms resembling a common cold, such as cough, wheezing, runny nose or sore throat. However, in young children, the elderly and individuals with weakened immune system, the virus can lead to severe respiratory complications, requiring prompt medical attention, said Prabhav Naik referring to inforation sought from medical experts.
We must maintain hygiene, keep infants, children and elderly under close watch and take medical advice incase any of our family member shows some symptoms, said Prabhav Naik.
Madganvcho Awaaz also appeals to the Government to start monitoring the situation in Goa and take preventive steps to equip all Primary Health Centres, District Hospitals as well as Goa Medical College with necessary arrangements to handly the situation, Prabhav Naik said.
Goans have not forgotten the horror at Goa Medical College during Covid Pandemic. I hope government will not sit idle now awaiting some directions from central government and eventually push citizens into panic mode. Even Private Hospitals are to be kept ready to face any emergencies due to outbreak of the virus, said Prabhav Naik.
