PONDA: After recent incidents of Bandora and Kavlem Garbage segregation was set on fire by unknown there was third suspected incident of deliberate fire put to sewerage Pipes kept at open space at housing Board Curti.
The fire caught at around 11.15 pm, and according to Sushil Morajkar Ponda Fire Station officer, the fire personnel immediately rushed to the spot to douse the fire, where three fire tenders were used to douse the fire. It took three hours to douse the fire.
According to the sewerage contractor, the sewage pipes have been kept on the open ground at Curti for the past two years.
He said 800 mm dia sewage pipes were damaged in the fire, and some scrap pipes were dumped on the spot.
He said his higher authorities are calculating the exact loss, and a police complaint will be filed.
Local Viraj Sapre said Ponda should investigate into the matter. He said it might be a deliberate attempt to set fire to sewage pipes.
