Dr Sawant was speaking at the inaugural function of launching the marketing website www.goabazaar.org today at Institute Menezes Braganza, Panaji. The website will be operated by the Department of Rural Development through GSRLM State Mission.
Speaking further, Dr Pramod said Goa is dependent on neighbouring states for basic needs but now, not only in Goa but Goan who are staying out of Goa can also order the product made by SHGs through this website.
Chief Minister appealed to the people to support the products made by SHG members as it would provide them with the necessary support to market their products.
Michael Lobo, in his address, requested the Chief Minister to provide a place to build stalls at different places all over Goa. If government provides a place, then I promised to build the stalls in one month. We have to provide a platform to everyone to make goa Swayampurna Goem. We have already completed the construction of one stall in Arpora, which will be inaugurated this month at the hands of Smt Sulakshana Sawant.
Sulakshana Sawant, President all Goa Self Help Groups, Rohit Joe Monserrate, Mayor, Corporation of the City of Panjim, Smt Meena Goltekar, Director of RD, South Goa, were amongst those who were present on occasion.
This website will provide the platform for 38,500 Self Help Group (SHG) members to showcase their products and connect them with sellers from all over Goa and, in particular, India in general. The buyer will contact the concerned SHG members for the delivery and payment. Hence, the website will not have any payment gateway or cash transactions through the Department.
The vision of the Department through this website and other likewise activities is to improve the income of the SHG women to at least Rs. 10,000/- per month for each member connected with this mission.
