Team Goemkarponn
FATORDA: Vijai Sardesai raised strong concerns over what he described as a steady “northward drift” of major activities and infrastructure in the state, warning that Goa’s identity and cultural roots could be at risk if the trend continues.
Addressing supporters at Fatorda Square, the Goa Forward Party MLA said that with operations at Manohar International Airport fully functional and the future of civilian operations at Dabolim Airport appearing uncertain, the imbalance in regional development is becoming increasingly evident.
“Major activities are moving North. The airport at Manohar International Airport is operational, while civilian operations at Dabolim Airport face an uncertain future. This is not just about infrastructure. This is about identity,” Sardesai said.
He cautioned that if the present trend continues unchecked, even Goa’s iconic Carnival could lose its traditional roots and character. “If this drift continues, even our Carnival — the pride of Goa — risks losing its roots. We will not allow Goa to be sidelined in its own land,” he asserted.
Calling for unity among Goans, Sardesai declared, “At Fatorda Square, we stand for one thing: Make Goa Goa again. Goemkarponn is not a slogan. It is who we are.”
He further warned that failure to act collectively could have lasting consequences for the state’s cultural and regional balance. “If we don’t unite now, we risk losing everything that makes Goa, Goa. Rise. Unite. Protect Goa,” Sardesai urged.
