PONDA: Low-income group of society, senior citizens fervently urge the government to make PAN-Aadhaar linking free.
The citizens said that Rs 1000 is not affordable in the time of rising inflation.
While government servants and businessmen had linked their PAN long back with Aadhaar because they are filing returns, the general public, unaware of the PAN-Aadhaar Link warning, needs help to complete the task before the 31 March deadline.
Sadly senior citizens, widows, daily wage earners are struggling to link the PAN with Aadhaar by paying Rs 1000 fines as they are unable to pay hefty fines in times of inflation when struggling to bear the cost of living and; urged the government to make the PAN Aadhaar link free of cost and also extend the deadline to avoid panic among poor people.
There is growing discontent among Aam aadmi over paying hefty fines of Rs 1000 for PAN- Aadhaar Link.
People from the daily wage category are panicking over deadlines and exorbitant fines. The big question from aam Admi is why this much fine and from where will they bring this money to pay?
Sandesh Naik of Marcaim asked why there was no awareness of programmes like Administration coming to the doorstep for aam aadmi and why they were forced to go to agents.
“Why is government machinery not doing it at a minimum fine of Rs 100?” Questioned Sandesh Naik.
He said this was big loot which made him and his family panic.
He said he is a daily wage earner, and his family includes his wife and two children who are not earning, but just because he made PAN Card, he will have to shell out Rs 4000 plus agents’ fees, which would cost him Rs 5000.
He said this is affordable only to government servants and not for people with private jobs and only one person earning in the family.
Though the government extended deadlines earlier on several occasions, the general public or aam aadmi learnt about linking the PAN and Adhaar recently, while the general public says they only know about linking documents recently, and they also want to know whether it is compulsory for all.
For the past few days, aam aadmi has appeared furious over Rs 1000 fines demanded by the government for PAN- Aadhaar link, and there is growing demand from them that it should be free of cost as well as the deadline of 31 March should be extended.
The senior Citizen aged above 60 years said he is not earning any income and so how he pays fine to the government.
He said instead of giving these jobs to agent government should create awareness of it by bringing the Administration to the doorstep so that people will link free of cost.
Further, there are so many mistakes made by agencies while preparing an Aadhaar is also causing people delays, and they are forced to make separate lines at Aadhaar card repair centres.
