Margao – The need of the hour is to make South Goa District Hospital fully operational. This project was initiated by me with a sole vision of providing affordable healthcare to the people of Goa and I will not allow any deviation from it said Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat.
The people of Goa have apprehension on governments intention on keeping the two floors of the hospital vacant when the government feels need of 20% beds in Intensive Care Units of private hospitals all across the State. The new hospital project can help the government to provide best healthcare in this Covid pandemic stated Digambar Kamat.
It is important that government brings money from PM Care fund and make all facilities in the hospital fully operational. The hospital once becomes fully functional will solve difficulties faced today by the government in providing healthcare to Corona infected and Covid patients.
The Government needs to take example from the Cardiac Care facility at the Goa Medical College which was set up by former CM late Manohar Parrikar, which is providing the best medical care to the patients under guidance of Goan medical fraternity.
The government must involve the local medical fraternity while deciding about creation of basic and advanced healthcare facilities in Goa. Each and every stakeholder needs to be taken into confidence before taking any decision on matters concerning healthcare.
The people and specially Covid positive patients are facing problems due to improper facilities at Covid Care Centres. There are reports that some Covid positive patients are advised to stay at their homes due to non-availability of beds at Covid Care centres.
The government must come out with an Action Plan and White Paper before the situation aggravates warned Digambar Kamat
