Old Goa: Old Goa Police have registered an unnatural death case after a man who had been admitted to the Institute of Psychiatry and Human Behaviour (IPHB) in Bambolim since 1999 died while undergoing treatment at Goa Medical College (GMC).
According to police, on March 12, 2026, a letter was received from the Institute of Psychiatry and Human Behaviour (IPHB), Bambolim, vide No. 75/8/88-MS-4800 dated March 10, 2026, informing that an unidentified male patient, Lasul Kadaiya, a native of Andhra Pradesh, had expired at GMC Bambolim.
Police said the deceased had been admitted to IPHB on December 10, 1999, following a magistrate’s order (No. JMFC/PAN/99/B/990 dated December 10, 1999).
The patient later died at around 6:35 am on March 9, 2026, while undergoing treatment in Ward No. 142 (General Medicine) at GMC Bambolim.
Following the intimation, Old Goa Police registered an Unnatural Death (UD) case No. 19/2026 under Section 196 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
Police have also informed SDM Panaji, Tiswadi, Bhiku Gawas about the registration of the case.
Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Manohar Dhulapkar of Old Goa Police Station.
