Verna: Verna Police have arrested a man from Cansaulim following a complaint of rape and assault lodged by a woman from Uttar Kannada district, Karnataka. The case was registered based on the complaint of the survivor, whose identity has been withheld for legal reasons.
According to the complaint, on February 15, 2026, in the morning hours at a guest house room in Cansaulim, the accused, identified as Irfan Khan, allegedly forced himself on the complainant without her consent. The survivor further alleged that on February 17, 2026 at around 3:00 hrs, the accused took her on his scooter to an isolated location at IDC Verna, where he allegedly assaulted her with a belt and again subjected her to sexual assault against her will. The accused also allegedly threatened her with dire consequences.
Following the complaint, police registered an offence and arrested the accused in connection with the crime. Further investigation is being carried out by LPSI Pramila Fernandes of Verna Police Station.
