MORMUGAO: Mormugao police have arrested a man for allegedly assaulting a youth with a wooden rafter, causing grievous injuries to his head, in a rented room at Baina.
As per the complaint filed by 20-year-old Rahul Kumar Majhe, a resident of Baina and native of Bihar, the incident occurred on May 25 at around 9.00 pm. The accused, identified as Rahul Kumar Sahni, also residing in Baina and hailing from Bihar, allegedly attacked Rajesh Majhe with a wooden rafter, striking him on the head.
The victim sustained serious head injuries and was shifted to Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
Police have registered an offence under Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. The accused was arrested and remanded to four days of police custody.
Further investigation is being conducted by PSI Stanley Gomes of Mormugao Police Station, under the supervision of PI Sherif Jacques and guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam.
