MAYEM: A man from Mayem in Bicholim has been arrested for allegedly attempting to murder his younger brother following a family dispute late on March 29. The incident occurred between 9.30 pm and 11.10 pm at Haldankar Wadi, Mayem.
According to police, complainant Swara Mainkar, a resident of Vaiguinim, Mayem, reported that the accused Sanjay Mainkar, 41, a driver by profession, got into a quarrel with his younger brother Sagar Mainkar at their family house. The dispute reportedly began when Sagar did not open the door for Sanjay, leading to a heated argument between the two.
During the altercation, the accused allegedly stabbed Sagar Mainkar with a knife on vital parts of his body with the intention and knowledge that the act could cause death. The victim sustained serious bleeding injuries and was immediately shifted to Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
Police stated that the accused attempted to commit murder of his younger brother, who is also the husband of the complainant. Based on the complaint, a case has been registered under Section 109 of the BNS, 2023.
Sanjay Mainkar was arrested on March 30 at around 9.20 am. Further investigation is in progress under PSI Akash Parwar of Bicholim Police Station, under the guidance of PI Shri Vijay Rane and supervision of SDPO Bicholim.
