Colvale: Colvale police arrested a man for indulging in illegal gambling by running a game of chance, commonly known as a number game, at a public place in Bardez. The offence was registered on December 29, 2025, at 1.45 pm on the basis of a state complaint filed by Head Constable Anil Shetye (No. 5651), attached to Colvale Police Station.
According to police, the incident occurred at around 12.40 pm near the post office at Colvale, Bardez, when the accused, Vaman Naik (57), son of Sakharam Naik and a resident of Khalcha Wada, Virnoda, Pernem, was caught red-handed while accepting money from members of the public for the illegal number game in an open public place. During the raid, police seized cash amounting to ₹640 in different denominations along with other gambling-related articles.
The accused was placed under arrest at 1.45 pm and was later released on bail the same day at 2.03 pm after observing all Supreme Court guidelines. Further investigation in the case is being carried out by I.O. Dattaraj Rane of Colvale Police Station.
